WNUR News

WNUR News is Northwestern University’s only audio-focused publication. We broadcast half-hour newscasts three times a week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) on WNUR 89.3 FM located at 1877 Campus Dr, Evanston, IL 60208. The stories featured are completely original and student created. The newsroom contains 25+ students who serve as reporters, producers, and anchors.

I joined WNUR News in the Fall of 2020 as a reporter, producer, and anchor. I produced/edited audio packages covering local issues affecting Northwestern and the larger Evanston area. I produced many of the live radio broadcasts, normally one per week. I also regularly anchored, writing and reading the broadcast scripts live on air.

After being appointed as a co-director for the 2021-2022 school year, I oversaw the programming, projects, activities and growth of WNUR News. I organized weekly staff and editorial meetings discussing stories. Additionally, I organized the yearly budget and worked with the station’s General Managers to ensure proper funding.

I led the creation for the organization’s website, wnur.news — having personally set up the Wordpress site. To help onboard new members of WNUR News who lacked background knowledge in audio journalism, I wrote educational and how-to-guides about audio production, editing, and broadcasting. I also led live in-person meetings which provided step-by-step instruction in DAW's such as Audition, Audacity, and ProTools.
